PSMA’s partner network

Our collaboration with a relatively small number of partners allows us share our data expertise with those organisations and enables them to multiply the impact our data has on the broader economy through their own distinctive commercial activities.

A fact not widely known about PSMA is that we are a wholesaler.

PSMA was created to provide a single point of contact between government mapping agencies wishing to make their data available to the market and industry organisations seeking to use that data.

As you can imagine, there are many levels of relationships in this supply chain and, just important as our work on collating and aggregating data, is PSMA’s nurturing and management of these relationships.

Why have a partner network?

The value of PSMA’s datasets is in the richness of the data, which enables a broad range of innovations and applications.

However, this richness also translates to complexity that requires specialist skills and knowledge to provide business-ready solutions that deliver tangible benefits.

This is the reason why PSMA works with a value-added reseller and integrator network.

Our collaboration with a relatively small number of partners allows us share our data expertise with those organisations and enables them to multiply the impact our data has on the broader economy through their own distinctive commercial activities.

Working with our partners enables PSMA to focus our efforts on the data itself: identifying what’s needed and what’s available, collating data from our contributors and continually improving our production processes.

Who are our partners and what do they do?

PSMA partners with more than 20 value added resellers and integrators. Over the years, as interest and use of geospatial data has moved from specialist industries to mass market, our partner profile has also evolved.

Our network includes traditional geospatial specialists and data engineers as well as software developers, marketing service providers, systems integrators and consultancies.

The products and pricing that our partners offer are as diverse as the companies themselves. However, our data is generally offered by our partners in one of the following ways:

  • Raw data, as supplied by PSMA or with some further enhancements such as augmented data and alternative formats.
  • Data embedded into an ‘off-the-shelf’ software solution such as valuation, geocoding or route optimisation tools.
  • Tailored solution that starts with understanding the specific business need and developing and integrating a customised solution to match.
  • Data as a web service.

Work with a PSMA partner or become one

When we are contacted by people interested in accessing our data, we will usually recommend one of our partners as they are specialists in manipulating our complex data content to deliver business solutions. However, if the organisation has a unique application of the data, we may explore the option of the organisation becoming a partner.

PSMA welcomes interest in partnering with us from all sectors. We work closely with all partners to ensure that they are well-positioned to take our data to market. Benefits to partners include training, technical and marketing support.

PSMA partners in an open data environment

With the Australian Government’s release of PSMA’s Administrative Boundaries and Geocoded National Address File (G-NAF) under open data terms, our partner network becomes an even more important resource.

In an environment where these very complex and powerful datasets are available to all, the proven experience and expertise of our partners become even more valuable.

For example, G-NAF is almost 3GB in its packaged format and contains over 30 separate tables of data that are best utilised in a structured relational database.

To apply this file into an existing business system and extract the value you want from it requires expert knowledge and experience. For anyone who wants to ensure that they use G-NAF effectively and get the most from open data, PSMA’s partners play a vital role in advising and implementing solutions with G-NAF and Administrative Boundaries content.

The Australian Government’s removal of many of the licencing restrictions means the data is available. Investing in expert knowledge and assistance to transform data into a solution will help you realise the value and incredible benefits these datasets offer.

For access to this expertise and knowledge, PSMA recommends our network of partners, in particular, our Experienced G-NAF Partners.
