Privacy Statement
PSMA Australia Limited is bound by the National Privacy Principles (NPP’s) developed by the Federal Privacy Commissioner, which affect the way we collect, use and disclose ‘personal information’.
‘Personal Information’ means any information or an opinion (including information or an opinion forming part of a database), whether true or not and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained from the information or opinion.
PSMA Australia Limited’s core business is the co-ordination, assembly and delivery of standards compliant, national datasets. In accordance with the ANZLIC Privacy Policy Categories for Spatial Information (Draft), PSMA Australia Limited collects the following types of information in the assembly and maintenance of datasets:
‘Property Information’
Information created by or for government to identify or describe a property. It is independent of the identity of the owner and unaffected by changes in ownership. On its own, it does not reveal any information about an identifiable person.
‘Other Spatial Information’
Spatial information other than ‘property information’ that describes the location of objects in the real world and the relationship between objects. It contains no personal information.
However, in our day to day business, the types of ‘Personal Information’ we do collect and hold includes individuals’ company contact details, billing details for our Value Added Resellers and personal details related to job applicants to our company.
It is collected from licence agreements, and when you contact us and volunteer the information (by mail, phone, email, fax, job application, or tender) for receiving information, applying for a job, submitting a tender and so on.
The information is used for the following primary purposes (depending on the purpose for which it was submitted):
- Data licensing transactions;
- Informing you of updates to licensed datasets;
- Relevant company announcements and newsletters;
- Providing services and information you have requested or bought; and
- Evaluating job applications and tenders.
The nature of PSMA Australia business does not require the disclosure of personal information to any other organisation. However, should there be a requirement to disclose your personal information it will not be done without first gaining your approval.
We will destroy personal information when it is no longer needed for any purpose, or at your request.
