2014 marked the 10th anniversary of Australia’s authoritative Geocoded National Address File, G-NAF.

G-NAF is the only address database that combines over 30 million addresses from 10 authoritative sources: each of the governments of Australia, the Australian Electoral Commission and Australia Post.

Each of the 13+ million addresses is enriched with geographic coordinates (geocode), an ABS mesh block identifier, aliases to capture in use as well as authoritative labels for that location, and attributes including lineage, type of property, and a unique identifier.

G-NAF is used across government and industry to verify addresses, identify addresses on a map and link to statistical, business and even crowd-sourced data. G-NAF underpins many policy and business systems that provide important services to Australians including emergency response, social services, insurance, telecommunications and navigation.
